Vemana Institute of Technology, the top engineering college in Bangalore continues to follow its tradition of developing the holistic personality of our students. At Vemana IT we not only concentrate on academic excellence but believe in the all-round development of students. For this, we organize a number of co-curricular activities throughout the year and sports as an integral part of Vemana IT culture.
Sports committee of our institute in coordination with physical education director had organized Taekwondo, Gymnastic, and Mallakhamba for all the VTU affiliated colleges. Our own student Mr. Ranjith won the Gold medal in Taekwondo and he had also represented nationals for 3 times. In addition, our students represented the institute in the number of inter-college events organized by VTU and other affiliated institutes.
Annual Sports Meet
The much awaited Annual Sports meet “VEMANA KREEDOTSAVA” of Vemana Institute of Technology was held on 6th April 2018 at St. Johns ground, which was a day filled with passion and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills, and cheers.
The day started off with the lovely rendition by salutations to the Lord Almighty and another highlight of the day was the lighting of the Olympic torch. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way commencing with March Past of the six contingents of different departments.
Smt. Pramila Aiyappa, International athlete was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. Our President Sri. H.N. Vijayaraghava Reddy, Secretary Sri. Muninagappa, Joint Secretary Sri. Shekar Reddy, Member Sri. Sadashiva Reddy, Sri. Shamanna Reddy – Chairman sports committee and the members of sports committee, staff have graced the occasion.
The competitors participated with great excitement in the track and field events. The event included races in categories of 100mts, 200mts, 400mts, 4x100mts relay for boys and girls and 1500mts only for boys. Field events include broad jump, shot put and discus throw for both boys and girls. The prize distribution for the athletic winners is honored on the same day by Sri. Shamanna Reddy, Sri. Venkatappa and all the department heads. Towards the end, an event for the staff was organized which added to the enthusiasm.
It was an exciting day for the students of our institution. It highlighted the importance of the sports and a sporting spirit to these tomorrows future.
Interclass events are kick-started through a Marathon with a theme “YOUR VOTE COUNTS FOR BETTER INDIA” organized to spread awareness on the importance of voting organized on 4th April 2018. 500 students and the public participated in the event. It was inaugurated by Sri. Venkatappa, National level walkathon gold medalist (senior cadre). Sri. Shamanna Reddy, Chairman – Sports Committee and the members, staff have graced the occasion. The chief guest hoisted the flag signaling the start of a marathon.
